Photography exhibition: Human Nature

Oct. 3, 2014 - FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany

Frankfurt am Main, 3-10-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Deutsche Börse: Deutsche Börse Group is celebrating the 15th year of its collection of contemporary photography with an exhibition entitled “Human Nature”. The exhibition comprises around 120 works by 24 international artists in the collection who use the medium of photography to examine the relationship between humans and nature.

Hauke Stars, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse Group, will be opening “Human Nature” at the company headquarters in Eschborn today. Anne-Marie Beckmann, curator of the Art Collection Deutsche Börse and Prof. Dr Jean-Christophe Ammann, artistic advisor for the collection, will then co-present a retrospective of the collection’s 15-year history. The artists Sonja Braas, Joachim Brohm, Geert Goiris, Regine Petersen and Alfred Seiland featured in the exhibition, will also be present.

“Human Nature” shows photographic explorations of the relationship between humans and nature in a wide variety of landscapes. These reveal not only humans’ perception of nature, but also most importantly, human nature itself. Other themes include primal nature far from civilisation, changes inflicted on landscape by humans and the adjustment of humankind to its self-created environment. “Human Nature” presents works from artists including Paul Almasy, Mike Brodie, John Davies, Axel Hütte, Vivian Maier, Simon Norfolk, Sebastião Salgado and Gunnar Smoliansky. The exhibition’s curator is Anne-Marie Beckmann.

It will be shown from 1 October 2014 until 15 January 2015 in Eschborn, and then from 30 January until 17 April 2015 at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. It is open for viewing in Eschborn through art tours. These require registration via e-mail to: art@deutsche-boerse.com. Further information on the collection and forthcoming tour dates for “Human Nature” are available online at www.deutsche-boerse.com/art and on facebook/ArtCollectionDeutscheBörse.
